On Saturday the Lions Club of Morpeth were out in force on the streets of Morpeth collecting on behalf of the Northumbrian Gathering and to provide local Lions support wherever it is needed. Traditionally the Lions have donated ‘their’ half of the proceeds back to the Gathering Committee. This year will be no exception.
To provide additional amusement, some of the Lions drew attention to themselves by adopting colourful headwear and it seems to have borne results. One of the Lions organisers, Simon Pringle said ‘Once again the people of Morpeth and the Gathering’s supporters from near and far have demonstrated their appreciation of the huge efforts made by the Gathering Committee to provide a weekend of traditional entertainment and spectacle. Despite a wet Saturday afternoon, Morpeth Lions Club will be handing over £530.07.
We are very grateful to all who donated.
