Whilst members of the Lions Club of Morpeth can often be seen on the street supporting other charities, it recently held its annual Street Collection for Club charity funds on a day blessed with dry weather and kind hearts.
Lion President Richard Nash said ‘We are always grateful for the support of the people of Morpeth and the surrounding areas. The total collected was £398.47 which will greatly assist us to cover the costs of our Christmas commitments.
These start with our ‘Meet the Lions’ event which this year will take place at the Riverside Lodge on Sunday, November 18th. when we look forward to welcoming up to 180 elderly or disabled residents of Morpeth for afternoon tea, entertainment and an early Christmas present. Next there is the provision of Christmas present sacks for many children who would otherwise receive very little. Finally we intend to support Wansbeck Food Bank which provides food parcels for needy families and individuals in the Morpeth district.’
